Over the last decade, the adoption of cloud and SaaS platforms has challenged security teams to defend a much larger attack surface area than ever before. Legacy SIEMs weren’t built to handle the massive growth of critical cloud data, resulting in excessively high licensing costs, slow performance, limited detection capabilities, and frustrated security teams.

Panther’s Founder and CTO, Jack Naglieri, lived these challenges at Yahoo & Airbnb and decided to take action. He developed an open-source tool, called StreamAlert, which was soon adopted by many other cloud-first security teams. But StreamAlert wasn’t built for mainstream adoption–it was too technical, it wasn’t scalable enough, and it lacked the enterprise-ready features needed by many security teams. So Jack founded Panther to create a better, more scalable, and more innovative platform that could deliver the speed, scale, and flexibility security teams need from their SIEM to deliver positive security outcomes in a cloud-first world.
